Reimagining the Future of Luxury Lingerie

Every great idea begins with a question.

When I first sat down with the brilliant team at the London College of Fashion, I asked, “What does the future of sustainable luxury lingerie look like?”
It wasn’t a question I expected to answer alone — but rather, one I wanted to explore alongside the next generation of designers who will shape the future of our industry.

For the past five months, this question has quietly guided an exciting live project between Fleur of England and the BA Fashion Contour course at London College of Fashion (LCF). Now, as the project officially begins, I am thrilled to finally share it with you.

A Shared Vision: Crafting the Future of Sustainable Luxury

At Fleur of England, every collection begins with an emotion — a feeling of strength, beauty, and sensuality. Over the past 24 years, that emotion has evolved into a design philosophy: to create luxury that lasts, both in its craftsmanship and in its conscience.

The fashion landscape is changing rapidly. Consumers are asking deeper questions about where their garments come from, who made them, and how they impact the planet. For me, that shift represents a beautiful opportunity — to combine the artistry of lingerie design with the principles of sustainability and innovation.

The live project with LCF Contour students is a natural extension of that vision. Together, we are exploring how young creatives can reinterpret Fleur of England’s values — timeless design, delicate craftsmanship, and conscious creation — for a new era of slow luxury.

Inside The Design Challenge

The Fleur of England x LCF Fashion Contour Design Challenge invites students to respond to a single brief:

“What does the future of sustainable luxury contour look like?”

Students will design a capsule collection for Autumn 2026 that redefines what luxury means through the lens of consciousness, functionality, and emotional connection.

We’re asking them to think differently:

  • How can materials be both sensual and sustainable?
  • How can a garment serve multiple purposes — to be worn, styled, or treasured in more than one way?
  • How might emerging technologies like digital design and bio-textiles help us move beyond convention?

The students’ final concepts will include research into next-generation fabrics, technical innovation, and design storytelling. And while their work will be rooted in theory, it will also speak to something deeper — the emotion behind lingerie, and the quiet confidence it gives the wearer.

FLEUR OF ENGLAND FOUNDER VISIT LONDON COLLEGE OF FASHION

A Moment of Pride: Visiting the London College of Fashion

When I arrived at the new London College of Fashion campus, I was immediately struck by its sense of possibility.
The building itself feels like a living, breathing creative hub — filled with light, collaboration, and a genuine spirit of innovation.

Walking through the studios reminded me of my own time as a fashion student more than 30 years ago — except this was a completely different world.
The facilities are extraordinary: spaces for digital design, pattern development, and specialist machinery that would make any designer’s heart flutter.

I had the privilege of briefing the students in person, sharing the Fleur of England story — how every piece begins as a sketch, evolves through lace trials and embroidery sampling, and is lovingly crafted in small ateliers where people, not machines, bring it to life.

There was a moment during the session when I looked around the room and saw their faces — curious, brave, full of possibility. It reminded me that our industry’s future depends not only on design innovation but also on imagination and empathy.

Why Education Matters: Passing the Baton to the Next Generation

Over the years, I’ve had the joy of mentoring many young women through Fleur of England — interns, graduates, and designers who bring fresh ideas and a contagious sense of curiosity to the studio.

Working with the contour students at London College of Fashion is a continuation of that commitment.
As Creative Director, I see my role not just as a designer but as a custodian — someone who holds the values of our brand with care and passes them forward.

Exchanging industry knowledge with our next generation of designers has the power to redefine what luxury means. The contour students we briefed are digital natives — they think in 3D, they care about ethical sourcing, and they see sustainability not as a constraint but as a creative opportunity.

Their world is one where innovation and empathy coexist — and that gives me so much hope and joy for our industry's future.

Behind the Scenes: Building the Brief

This project has been five months in the making. Working closely with the tutors and course leader of Contour at the London College of Fashion has been an inspiring process in itself.

Together, we refined the project brief to ensure it challenged the students intellectually and creatively while remaining true to the Fleur of England DNA.

The passion and professionalism of the LCF  Contour course teaching team have been extraordinary. Their dedication to nurturing creative talent shines through in everything they do, and I feel deeply grateful to be working alongside such inspiring educators.

FLEUR OF ENGLAND SKETCHES LUXURY LINGERIE COLLECTION

Drawing from Heritage to Design the Future

As Fleur of England approaches its 25th anniversary, this project feels especially poignant.

When I founded the brand, I set out to redefine what luxury lingerie could be — intimate, feminine, and emotionally intelligent. Over two decades later, the vision remains the same, but the world around us has evolved.

Now, the challenge is to preserve the artistry and emotion that define Fleur of England while embracing innovation and sustainability at every level.

The LCF project is a living embodiment of that balance — a dialogue between heritage and the horizon.
It asks: How can we honour the craftsmanship of the past while designing responsibly for the future?

The answer, I believe, lies in curiosity.

The Power of Exchanging knowledge, industry and education.

This project is more than a design challenge — it’s a conversation between generations.

It brings together the wisdom of experience and the excitement of new ideas. It bridges the gap between academia and industry, proving that when creative minds come together with openness and purpose, extraordinary things happen.

The energy in the room during the briefing was electric — students asking questions, sharing inspirations, sketching ideas before I’d even finished my sentence.

It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do. Lingerie is a deeply personal art form. It speaks to identity, confidence, and self-expression — themes that are just as relevant to this generation as they were when I began designing.

MY Closing Thoughts

This project is about legacy — not only of a brand but of an idea:
that beauty and sustainability can coexist,
that craftsmanship and innovation can walk hand in hand,
and that the future of luxury will be defined by conscious creativity.

To the tutors, course leader, and contour students at London College of Fashion — thank you. Your energy, insight, and imagination have already made this live project unforgettable.

To our readers and community — stay tuned. We’ll be sharing updates in the months to come.
