The Intimate Beauty of Lace: A Love Letter to Sensuality
By Fleur Christacos, Founder & Creative Director of Fleur of England.
There is a reason lace has long been associated with romance and luxury lingerie. It is not simply decorative - it is intimate. A fabric of shadow and light, delicacy and strength. When worn against the skin, lace becomes something more than an adornment. It becomes a feeling.
At Fleur of England, I have spent over two decades designing with lace - drawing each design by hand, selecting the softest components, and imagining how each silhouette will move with the body. Because lace, when crafted with intention, becomes a quiet kind of power. It is femininity not as performance, but as presence.
The Feeling of Lace on the Skin
To wear lace is to invite beauty into your most personal space.
Our bespoke French eyelash lace is made with whisper-light threads, designed to stretch and soften with your shape. It caresses rather than constricts. It reveals just enough while holding its secrets. There is something profoundly sensual about slipping into lace, not to impress, but to feel. To connect with your body, your mood, and your divine femininity.
It’s in the cool brush of lace as you fasten a bra in the morning.
It’s in the quiet confidence you carry beneath a silk shirt.
It’s in the way you catch your reflection and feel… beautiful.
I have created a. mood board below showing my favourite images of our lace, the way it catches the light and the shadows it makes on your skin, takes you into a world of romance.
The Beauty of Lace: A Timeless Tradition
Lace has adorned lingerie for generations. Feminine, supportive, and delicate - it is the perfect fabric for pieces designed to be both seen and felt. French lace is world-renowned for its heritage, quality, and elegance. It is woven on traditional lace-making machines, many of which are over 100 years old, using techniques that require exceptional skill and care.
We craft our collections from an exclusive French lace made in Lyon, sourced from a family-run maison that has been perfecting their craft since 1936. Their values of craftsmanship and family align beautifully with ours. Each piece of lace features a delicate floral motif and an exquisite eyelash-scalloped edge - a signature detail that makes our lingerie instantly recognisable.
for a meticulous, luxury finish. It remains exclusive to Fleur of England, and I have worked with this same supplier for over 15 years. The relationship we’ve built is one of trust, artistry, and shared love for the lace-making tradition.
We use a traditional couture technique known as appliqué to apply our lace - an intricate process reserved for only the most skilled artisans. Once the lace has been carefully hand-placed onto the silk, the surrounding fabric is meticulously cut away by hand, leaving behind a delicate, organic motif that appears to float across the garment. It’s a true expression of craftsmanship, precision, and timeless beauty.
Lingerie as Ceremony
We design our lace collections as heirlooms of emotion. Not trend-driven, but timeless.
Not loud, but deeply expressive.
Our Signature Lace pieces are embroidered by master artisans and paired with soft stretch silk to bring a balance of elegance and ease. Every thread is placed with a purpose. Every silhouette is designed to flatter and empower. These are pieces meant to be felt as much as seen.
For a bolder expression of sensuality, our Simone collection explores lace in a deeper, more daring way - rouge tones, bespoke fishnet embroidery, and silhouettes that celebrate the feminine form in all its power.
Thoughtful Touches
We believe that beauty lies in the details. That’s why every Fleur of England piece arrives as a gift - wrapped in our signature tissue-lined luxury gift box. Orders over £250 include a complimentary lingerie care bag, designed to preserve your pieces for years to come. You also have the option to include a handwritten note, so your purchase arrives as a poetic gesture, not just a product.
Because caring for your lingerie is an extension of caring for yourself.
A Celebration of Intimacy
Lace does not demand attention; it invites it. It draws you inward, allowing you to feel both soft and strong, vulnerable and divine. I have loved wearing and designing lace for as long as I can remember; the femininity it brings to your mood is deeply empowering.
Whether you're choosing lace to mark a special moment or simply to bring more beauty into your everyday, let it remind you of who you are: a woman in tune with her body, her emotions, and her story.
