Behind the Scenes | AW18
It's that time of year again where we head off to a beautiful location ready for our new season photo shoot. For Autumn/Winter 2018, the colour palette is soft and muted, taking inspiration from an autumnal landscape with bespoke embroidery designs inspired by ivy and colours taken from the silver birch tree. We're taking you behind the scenes for an exclusive look at our new season collections, from hair and makeup to how we chose the location for the shoot.
We talk to founder and creative director, Fleur, to discover her inspiration behind the new collections, as well as her favourite new pieces.
What was the inspiration behind your AW18 designs?
Nature is always a source of inspiration for me. Living in Bristol, we are surrounded by the beautiful British countryside and don't have to travel far to find beautiful woodland and greenery. This season, Wilderness was inspired by the colour of a silver birch tree and the embroidery design takes inspiration from climbing ivy. I also did a lot of research on crystals and the beautiful colours and natural formations. Rose quartz was the inspiration behind Antoinette and of course there's Onyx.
How did you choose the location for this seasons photo shoot?
I wanted to find a location that had a backdrop of silver birch trees and bracken but that was also interesting architecturally and modern inside. I grew up in this area of the surrey hills and knew this was the area to look in.
I fell in love with the textures and materials that were used to create this stunning property in Farnham.
Which is your favourite look from the shoot?
That is hard to answer! I have two, the Wilderness boudoir and brief looks stunning with the autumnal Bracken backdrop. My second is the Onyx strap balcony bra, it’s such a strong sexy and empowering piece.
What inspired the hair & Makeup looks this season?
Natural beauty always shines through so we never go for full on makeup . Fleur of England is all about natural beauty but with an edge of modern femininity. We chose a soft wine coloured lip that wasn't too heavy and a subtle eyeshadow to add a bit of definition to the eye. Our makeup hair and makeup artist, Wendy of The Grownup Edit, styled the hair in two different ways. The first look was a messy topknot, again keeping the look natural, and the second was soft tousled waves, working with our models natural hair texture.
