Celebrating 20 Years of Fleur of England
This is a very exciting year for Fleur of England as we celebrate our 20th anniversary. From our first collection being shown in Libertys of London in 2001, to the globally recognized brand we are today, it's been quite a journey. We'd love to celebrate by sharing some of our favourite moments from the past 20 years.
Sally Foster - Financial Controller
How long have you worked for Fleur of England?
It's coming up to nine years now!
What moment has stood out the most to you over your time at Fleur of England?
There was a moment years ago when I went to ask Fleur an accounting question and stood over her shoulder waiting whilst she was in deep concentration. I thought she was doodling, then she sat back and revealed the most delicate & intricate little design in her book. It was only then that I realised Fleur designed every ounce of the collections down to the lace detail. Stunning!
Which collection has been your favourite?
My favourite collection has to be Cosmic, I loved the embroidery design.
Are there any old designs you'd like to bring back?
I loved our strapless bras, I'm not sure if this is something we will be making again in the future but I always thought they looked so delicate and lovely in photos.
Fleur Christacos - Founder & CEO
What moment has stood out the most to you over the last 20 years of Fleur of England?
When I introduced my mum to Princess Ann after winning the New Comer Fashion Export award in 2003
Which collection has been your favourite?
It has to be Jasmine, with our first iconic boudoir bra for spring 12. This was the first of our beautiful guipure embroidered boudoir bra with a bold motif over sheer barely there tulle and it really set the trend for a lot of soft-cup triangle bra designs today.
Are there any old designs you'd like to bring back?
Our Kitty collection, this had hand drawing of my beloved cat printed on it!
How have things changed since first launching the brand?
Things have changed exponentially, its been a huge journey and privilege to watch Fleur of England bloom from concept to the internationally award winning brand we are today.
The main thing is now I have an amazing team of women who work with me, full of ideas and passion on how we can develop Fleur of England and achieve our mission of making women feel exquisitely confident. When I first started the brand it was only me and many sleepless nights!
What was your first collection? How have your designs developed since then?
It was called stiletto and hand down stiletto shoes all over a beautiful pale pink and dusty blue silk. This was launched in Liberty of London in their new store on Regent Street at the time. Since then the brand has really grown up and we've moved away from printed silk. My favourite means of storytelling is now through beautiful bespoke embroidery designs as I love the level of detail and the delicate appearance you can create.
What can we expect from Fleur of England in the next 20 years?
More beautiful lingerie and making women feel exquisitely confident. We have lots of plans for this year and are working closing with an incredible charity and working on our suitability values so watch this space!
